Systems Engineering M.Eng. (Ithaca)
Field of Study
Systems Engineering [M.Eng. administered by College of Engineering]
Program Description
Systems Engineering is a transdisciplinary approach to problem-solving, focusing on designing, managing, and optimizing complex systems. It involves understanding the interactions between different components and ensuring the entire system functions efficiently, effectively, and safely. This field is essential for projects in various industries, including aerospace, defense, healthcare, and manufacturing.
The Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Systems Engineering on-campus (OC) is a full-time, 1 year, 30 credit program that is designed for students who want to specialize in designing, implementing, and managing complex systems to benefit society. This includes fields like manufacturing, healthcare, urban transportation, and renewable energy. Students can pursue specific pathways to focus on areas like energy systems or health systems engineering. There is great flexibility for students to choose electives that align with their interests and goals. The core Systems Engineering courses are continuously evolving to meet industry expectations, address student needs, and maintain the interdisciplinary foundation of the program.
The Systems Engineering Program at Cornell is unique because all the faculty you interact with come from departments across the university—within the Colleges of Engineering, Arts and Sciences, Architecture, and Business. Because of this model, Systems at Cornell offers a well-rounded, robust educational experience and opportunities to engage in exciting interdisciplinary research.
