Conference Grants Full-time registered students in the Graduate School who have been invited to present papers or posters at professional conferences may apply for grants to help cover expenses related to conference participation (travel, lodging, conference fees, etc.). The application deadline is the first day of the month preceding the month in which the conference is scheduled. Awards are announced two weeks after the deadline. Students who have not received confirmation that their papers have been accepted by the application deadline can apply and then later provide the appropriate documentation once it becomes available. Applications are available online and from the Graduate School, 143 Caldwell Hall. Research Awards Full-time registered students in the Graduate School can apply for awards for research-related travel in the United States and abroad. These grants are intended for travel during the academic year that is directly related to dissertation research. Funds are not awarded for conference travel. Priority is given to Ph.D. students who have or will have passed the A Exam prior to initiating their travel and to those conducting predissertation research. Travel may be between several weeks to months in duration. The application deadline is early November. Applications are available online and from the Graduate School, 143 Caldwell Hall. International Travel Concerns Students need to be aware of the potential complications inherent in traveling abroad. They are well advised to know what travel and research documentation will required of them, and to provide for their own health and safety by obtaining necessary vaccinations and taking other safety precautions. The Graduate School Dean's Office has developed a detailed international travel information sheet to help students prepare for travel abroad. It is available at the Graduate School and on the Web in PDF format. |
